ABOUT OUR LOCATION Skydive Parys is less than 4km from the charming little town of Parys. Parys and the surrounding area is well known for the abundant antique shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries and many different accommodation types. Parys is an adventure hub, offering river rafting, quad biking, paintball, hot air ballooning, abseiling, 4x4 tracks and now Skydiving. These activities are just a few you can partake in, in the area. Parys hosts the Dome rally annual bike run, Dome festival and numerous air shows and golf days. Parys falls within the famous Vredefort Dome world heritage site. The Vredefort Dome was formed 2023 million years ago, when an asteroid the size of table mountain +- 10km in diameter and travelling at 70 000km/h hit Vrederfort. The impact forced rocks some 20km down buried in the earth's crust to be uplifted. You can clearly see the Vredefort Dome Mountains from Skydive Parys's Drop Zone, and just imagine freefalling over the world's largest and oldest astrobleme. The Vredefort Dome is split into two provinces by the Vaal River. The Freestate province lies on the Vaal Rivers South bank and the North West province on the North bank. Skydive Parys is found on the North Bank. The Vaal River is the largest tributary of the Orange River. The Vaal River has its source deep in the Drakensburg Mountains and it is 1 120 km in length.
