Eligibility for Membership
Membership is open to any South African citizen over the age of 16, regardless of their occupation or social standing.
Individuals from the African continent or the diaspora who accept the EFF's Constitution are also eligible.
Members must actively participate in a branch of the organization, adhere to its decisions, maintain discipline, and pay membership dues.
Compliance with the EFF's Constitution
Members must agree to the aims, objectives, principles, and policies of the EFF.
A declaration on the membership form must be signed, affirming adherence to the EFF's radical policies and commitment to the total emancipation of South Africa, Africa, and the oppressed globally.
Members vow to uphold the EFF’s seven non-negotiable cardinal pillars and the principle of democratic centralism.
The Decleration to be Signed
“I fighter (Name of Member) solemnly declare that I will abide by the aims, objectives and radical policies of the EFF as set out in the Constitution of the EFF. I voluntarily join the EFF without any motive for personal gain or material benefit and understand that I am not entitled to any position of deployment.
I will participate in the life of the EFF to strive towards the total emancipation of South Africa, Africa and the oppressed of the world and will do so as a loyal, active and disciplined Economic Freedom Fighter.
I further declare to defend the proud and militant legacy of the fallen heroines and heroes. To work towards a South Africa that belongs to all who live in it. Defend the African revolutionary tradition against all forms of tendencies that promote hatred, division, underdevelopment, corruption and social discords.
I vow to defend and selflessly pursue the realisation of the seven nonnegotiable cardinal pillars as a primary political programme of the EFF contained in the Founding Manifesto. I further commit to abide by the principle of democratic centralism which is that the individual is subordinate to the organisation, that minority is subordinate to the majority, that the lower level is subordinate to the higher level, and that decisions of the upper structure are binding on the lower structure.”
Membership Fees and Renewal
Upon acceptance, members are required to pay a joining fee set by the Central Command Team (CCT) and renew their membership every two years.
The CCT reserves the right to accept or reject any membership application.
An efficient system for membership management and renewal is maintained by the CCT.
Exclusivity and Loyalty
Members are prohibited from joining or associating with any organization whose aims and objectives contradict those of the EFF.
Public attacks on the organization, including on social media, are grounds for defining a member as outside the EFF.
Joining another political or contradictory organization results in a permanent ban from rejoining the EFF.
Organizational Discipline
Disrupting organizational meetings, events, or programs is considered a serious infraction, positioning the member outside the organization.
Conclusion
Membership in the EFF is characterized by a commitment to its principles, active participation, and adherence to a strict code of conduct and loyalty. These criteria and responsibilities reflect the EFF’s focus on disciplined, cohesive action towards its goals of economic emancipation and social justice in South Africa and beyond. Understanding these membership guidelines is crucial for grasping the organizational culture and operational ethos of the EFF.
