Vermont Sales: Powering the Trade for 36 Years and Counting
For over three decades, Vermont Sales has set the benchmark for excellence in the South African power tool accessory market. Vermont Sales has built an impressive legacy of quality, innovation, and service, making it the trusted partner for retailers and consumers alike.
A Brand Powerhouse
Vermont Sales isn’t just a supplier; it's a curator of world-class brands. By developing globally recognized names like Tork Craft, Alpen, Pro-Tech, GAV, Kreg, Festool, and others, the company has mastered the art of individual brand identity. Each product stands on its own merit, empowering consumers to interact with it independently, while Vermont Sales quietly facilitates their success.
This strategic approach has made Vermont Sales the go-to partner for international manufacturers entering the South African market. Over the years, the company has earned a stellar reputation as the foremost brand promoter, with a proven track record of launching and representing successful product ranges.
Built on Integrity
At the heart of Vermont Sales lies a commitment to integrity and straight dealing. These values have fostered lasting respect within the trade industry. By prioritising quality, value, and continuous innovation, Vermont Sales consistently delivers exceptional products to retailers, often leading the way with first-to-market solutions. While competitors may follow in their footsteps, Vermont Sales remains firmly ahead of the curve.
A Proud History
Founded in 1985 by Roland Hunt, Vermont Sales started as a humble distribution business. Armed with a range of American power tool accessories and a vision to cater to the underdeveloped hardware trade, Roland and his wife, Mindi, began building what would become a powerhouse.
Their dedication quickly led to expansion—both in product range and team size. Years later, their children, Ryan and Angela, joined the business, bringing fresh energy and reinforcing the company’s family-driven values with a corporate edge.
From a small team of five to over 220 employees today, Vermont Sales has grown exponentially, operating from state-of-the-art, purpose-built premises in Corporate Park South, Midrand. This growth has been accompanied by a strong commitment to employee development, offering bursaries and career advancement opportunities to staff.
Investing in Training
The success of Vermont Sales extends beyond products—it’s also about people. The company places a heavy emphasis on skill development and training, offering comprehensive programs for both its employees and retail partners. These programs include:
In-house staff training: From entry-level positions to advanced roles, Vermont Sales encourages upskilling at all levels. Many employees have progressed to senior roles within the company.
Retailer training: Certified trainers provide hands-on guidance to retail staff, ensuring they understand the products they stock. Courses cover product knowledge, merchandising, and sales skills.
Consumer education: Regular demonstrations at retail stores educate end-users on best practices, helping them unlock the full potential of Vermont Sales’ tools and accessories.
International suppliers also play a key role, hosting training sessions at their factories and sending experts to South Africa to upskill Vermont Sales teams. This collaborative approach ensures unparalleled support for customers.
Looking Ahead
With a foundation built on integrity, respect, and innovation, Vermont Sales is well-positioned for future growth. The company is committed to introducing trusted brands that deliver exceptional value and exploring opportunities across the African continent.
As Vermont Sales continues to grow, it remains steadfast in its mission: providing effective solutions to the trade, empowering retailers, and elevating consumers’ experiences. Powered by service and driven by a passion for excellence, Vermont Sales is ready to shape the future of the industry.
