Over the past week, Potchefstroom has seen refreshing rainfall, major community highlights, and exciting upcoming events. Dive into the stories shaping our town!

Recent Rainfall Brings Refreshing Change to Potchefstroom
Over the past week, Potchefstroom has enjoyed a series of refreshing showers, bringing much-needed relief to our gardens and parks. While the exact rainfall measurements vary, residents have noted a significant increase in precipitation, leading to lush greenery and vibrant blooms across the town.
However, the rain hasn't come without its quirks. Many of our infamous potholes have turned into mini ponds, cleverly disguising themselves and catching drivers by surprise. This has led to a few minor traffic hiccups, as unsuspecting motorists navigate these sneaky water-filled traps. Remember to drive cautiously and perhaps consider investing in a snorkel for your car!
NWU Honors Rugby Legends with New Residences
The North-West University (NWU) in Potchefstroom is set to honor two of South Africa's most influential rugby figures: Siya Kolisi and Rassie Erasmus. On Monday, February 24, the university will rename the Dennedorp residence to Siya Kolisi House and inaugurate a new multi-sport residence named Invictus House. This gesture recognizes their outstanding contributions to rugby, sports development, and social cohesion in South Africa.
Mooirivier Beskerming and NWU Equip Community with Life-Saving Skills
In a collaborative effort, Mooirivier Beskerming and the North-West University (NWU) Faculty of Health Sciences recently conducted a "Stop the Bleed" course for members of the local AfriForum branch. This initiative aims to empower community members with essential skills to identify and manage severe bleeding, a leading preventable cause of death. Participants praised the hands-on training, emphasizing its importance in enhancing community safety and emergency preparedness.
