New Suzuki Swift Launches in South Africa: Pricing and Features Revealed
Suzuki South Africa has officially announced the pricing and specifications for the next-generation Swift. The updated model is set to hit showrooms in October, with a starting price of R219,900, just R6,000 more than its predecessor. The new Swift range offers three trim levels: GL, GL+, and GLX, each providing varying features to suit different needs.
What’s New?
The base model GL includes 14-inch steel wheels, LED rear lights, electric windows, and a multi-information driver display. Standard across all trims are safety features such as six airbags, Isofix mounts, and rear parking sensors. The GL+ adds 15-inch alloy rims, a 7-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a reverse camera. For the top-tier GLX, buyers can expect automatic LED headlights, a 9-inch media hub, cruise control, and automatic air conditioning.
Engine and Performance
The new Swift features a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 60kW and 112Nm to the front wheels. The GL and GL+ come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the GL+ and GLX offer the option of a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Suzuki has incorporated an Engine Auto Start/Stop system to improve fuel efficiency, though the exact consumption figures are yet to be released.
