We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but the highly anticipated rugby fixtures for Saturday, 5 April 2025 have officially been called off due to expected heavy rain across the North West province.

According to forecasts, up to 100mm of rain could soak the region this weekend – and while we know the players are tough, they’re definitely not waterproof (and unfortunately, none of them are trained in water polo either 🏉➡️🤿).

So, for the sake of safety – and because scrums don’t work well when the ball floats – all scheduled matches have been postponed until further notice.

• Potch Dorp 1 vs Northam Wolves – Philip van Rensburg Semi-Final

• Potch Dorp 2 vs NWU Mahikeng – Mervyn Taylor Playoff

• Potch Dorp Women vs Welkom Women – Carien Broodryk League Game

We’ll update everyone as soon as the matches are rescheduled. Until then, enjoy the puddles, stay dry, and maybe send a thought to the players who were ready to ruck, tackle, and try... but now need to swap their boots for umbrellas! ☔
