Saturday 3 August , young archers from Baillie Park School showcased their precision and skill at an archery competition held at Laerskool Vastrap. The event was a resounding success, with three of our students returning home as trophy winners, further solidifying our school's reputation in the sport.
Archery Excellence
The competition was fierce, but our Baillies archers stood out for their exceptional performances:
David Knoetze secured a third-place finish among primary school boys and has been selected to join the North West Penkoppe team. He will represent North West at the SA Championships in September.
Elizma de Jager also took home a third-place trophy in the primary school girls' category and will join David in the Penkoppe team at the national championships.
Christelle Maritz outperformed her peers by winning first place in the Cubs girls' category, showcasing her budding talent and dedication to archery.
Pride and Prospects
“These young archers have not only brought pride to our school but have also demonstrated the potential to excel at higher levels of competition,” said a proud coach after the tournament. The inclusion of David and Elizma in the North West Penkoppe team is particularly exciting, as it offers them a chance to compete on a national stage and bring further honor to Baillie Park.
Looking Ahead
With the SA Championships on the horizon, our community is eagerly anticipating what these talented young archers will achieve next. Their hard work, along with the support of their coaches and families, sets them up for success at the upcoming national competitions.
