Gimmies is beaming with pride as they celebrate the achievements of their two chess players who represented South Africa at the African Youth Chess Championships in Benoni. Their hard work and dedication have truly paid off, bringing honour to the school and country.
Impressive Results by Kari Goede and Dewald Coetsee
A huge congratulations to Kari Goede and Dewald Coetsee for their excellent performance in the tournament. Kari finished 12th out of 36 players in the U18 girls division, showing her strategic brilliance on the chessboard. Dewald placed 14th out of 40 players in the U16 section, demonstrating remarkable skill and focus.
Competing Among Africa’s Best
The tournament saw the best players from 16 African countries, making it a highly competitive event. Despite the tough competition, South Africa finished 2nd overall, a fantastic achievement that highlights the strength and potential of our young chess talents.
