NWU Coaches Ready for the Challenge
The coaching staff at NWU University are gearing up for Saturday’s replay of last season’s Castle Lager Pirates Grand Challenge final against the defending champions, Pirates, in Potchefstroom. Coaches Leon Boshoff and Jacques Botes are among the most experienced at this level.
Meet the Coaches: Leon Boshoff and Jacques Botes
Leon Boshoff: Played 99 games for the old Western Transvaal, 88 times for the Lions, and 36 games in Super Rugby for the Cats.
Jacques Botes: Represented the Sharks 135 times in local competitions, 115 times in Super Rugby, and donned the Pumas jersey 42 times.
Together, these two coaches bring a staggering 515 games worth of experience to the field. Their combined expertise is expected to make a significant impact on the team’s performance.
Reflecting on Last Year’s Final
Last year’s final was an unexpected loss for the team, who had been unbeaten throughout the season. Several clubs canceled their trips to Potch towards the end of the season, possibly leaving the team under-prepared for the big game. This year, however, with Boshoff and Botes at the helm, the team will be well-prepared and ready to take on the challenge.
Looking Ahead
With such experienced coaches leading the way, we are confident in the team’s preparation and performance. The combination of Boshoff’s and Botes’ vast rugby knowledge promises an exciting and well-fought match.
