Dr. Adele Broodryk Takes Her First International Stride at the 2023 IAU 50 km World Championships in Hyderabad
While November typically provides a cool reprieve for many, in Hyderabad, the heat is about to get turned up on the 5th. Dr. Adele Broodryk, an ultramarathon sensation from North-West University (NWU), is set to put her endurance to the test at the global stage, representing South Africa at the 2023 IAU 50 km World Championships.
A Journey Beyond Borders
Adele radiates anticipation, stating, "I am extremely excited to represent our country during the IAU 50 km World Championships. Embarking on this international challenge is a first for me. India, with its rich culture and heritage, is a country I've always wanted to visit. It's thrilling to think that my first experience there will be running for my nation."
Preparing to Conquer
When asked about her preparations, she remarked, "My dream goes beyond just representing South Africa; I aim to make my nation swell with pride. Given that the championship is slated for around three hours, training in hot and humid conditions becomes paramount. Incorporating speed work and making dietary adjustments are also critical components of my preparation regime."
Track to Triumph
Having established herself as an ultramarathon force to be reckoned with, Dr. Broodryk's debut on the international stage is eagerly anticipated. As she gears up for her race in Hyderabad, an entire nation stands behind her, cheering her on.
