It seems the Potchefstroom crowds and the magic in Potchefstroom's air did it for the Proteas that raced to a fantastic score of 338 in their alloted overs, with Australia managing to reach 227 in the 34th over.
Altough many would say that the Proteas slacked in the end and could have finihed the game earlier, nonetheless the team won by 111 runs, the proverbial nelson so to say.
The next game now takes place in Centurion and the series is still very much alive.
With about three weeks to go to the World Cup this performance showed that South Africa could possibly improve on their recent on and off performance, and perhaps just shake that "Choke" that seems to have lingered over our cricketers during the global showcase that we so desperately want and know we should be brining home.
The bowler of the day for SA was Coetzee with 4 for 50 and with the bat Markram got 102 not out, also then getting the man of the match award.
Perhaps the Proteas should try and bottle some of the spirit they got at Potchefstroom and take this with them to the World Cup as it was a great team to watch and a great game played by our team.
