The 41st Great Brick Run is back and set to hit Potchefstroom on Saturday, 18 January 2025. Hosted by Berts Bricks Athletics Club, this iconic event promises to bring together running enthusiasts of all fitness levels for a day of fun, sweat, and, well, bricks.
Venue and Start Times
The action kicks off at the Snowflake Building, 2 Kock Street, with registration open from 05:00. Depending on your distance of choice, here’s when you’ll be hitting the road:
21.1km starts at 06:15.
10km kicks off at 06:20.
The 5km Fun Run also begins at 06:20.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just want to enjoy the route, there’s a run for everyone.
Entry Fees and Licences
Entry fees are straightforward:
21.1km: R170
10km: R120
5km Fun Run: R40
Latecomers can still grab entries on the day (with a slight price increase), and temporary licences for the 21.1km and 10km races are available for R70. Remember, these races follow the ACNW and ASA rules, so a valid licence is a must.
Pick Up Your Race Pack
Got your entry sorted? You can collect your race number and timing chip on 17 January 2025, between 16:00 and 19:00, at Snowflake. Both cash and card payments will be accepted on the day for any last-minute entries.
A quick heads-up: Your race number includes a timing chip, so don’t fold or fiddle with it. Also, make sure it’s displayed clearly on the front of your vest.
Bricks and Beer
The Great Brick Run wouldn’t be complete without its quirks. The first 100 athletes to complete the 21.1km while carrying a brick (yes, an actual brick!) will snag themselves a six-pack of beer. But remember, it’s one brick per runner—don’t get carried away with the masonry.
Prize Money for the Pros
While the event is all about community spirit, there’s some serious competition at the front of the pack. Prize money will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 21.1km and 10km races. So, if you’re feeling fast, now’s the time to show it.
