If you’re looking for a weekend of mud, sweat, and possibly a bit of tears (mostly from laughter, though), then the NPL Gaan Wild MTB & Run is where you need to be. Mark your calendars for 12th and 13th October 2024 because Potchefstroom is about to go wild!
Two Days, Two Events, One Epic Adventure
First up on the 12th of October is the MTB race. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a weekend warrior, there's a route for everyone. Choose from the 20km, 40km, 60km, or, if you're really feeling brave, the 90km route. Prices range from R250 to R550, depending on how far you want to push your legs and lungs. And hey, don't worry if you're not competing for the North West Marathon Champs – everyone’s welcome to take on the bushveld and enjoy the Lekwena Wildlife Estate’s scenic trails.
On the 13th, the runners take the stage. With options of 5km, 15km, and 25km, it’s perfect whether you’re a beginner, an enthusiast, or someone who just wants to justify that extra boerie roll at the food stalls later. The entry fee is easy on the wallet, too – R100 to R250, depending on your distance of choice.
Lekwena Wildlife Estate: More Than Just a Race
Now, if the thrill of the race isn't enough to get you there, maybe the promise of wildlife, food stalls, and entertainment will. Lekwena Wildlife Estate isn’t just the starting point; it’s the backdrop for a day out with the whole family.
