The NWU Prestige Under 17 Sevens Tournament is just around the corner, happening on the 6th and 7th of September at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds in Potchefstroom. If you’re a rugby fan or simply looking for a lekker weekend out, this event is going to be a banger!
What’s on the Cards?
Two days of non-stop, fast-paced rugby featuring some of South Africa’s top young talent. Expect to see schools like Grey College, Paul Roos, and Boland Landbou in action, going head-to-head in high-energy matches that’ll have you glued to your seat – or standing, if things get too exciting.
The pool matches kick off on Friday evening, 6 September, with the first clash at 18:20, where Paul Roos takes on Wesvalia. From there, it’s a whirlwind of tries, tackles, and sidesteps all the way until late, with heavyweights like Grey College, Durban High School, and Waterkloof in the mix. Saturday morning sees more pool matches, starting from 10:40, so get there early to grab a prime spot!
Who’s Playing?
With schools like Paul Roos, Grey College, and Waterkloof showing up, you already know the rugby’s going to be next-level. The tournament also sees participation from Welkom Gimnasium, Diamantveld, Rustenburg, and more – making for a tough, competitive weekend. Here’s a taste of what to expect from the matches:
