A Lighthearted Step for a Serious Cause
On Saturday, 12 April 2025, Potchefstroom will be trading snoozes for sneakers as the Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Fun Run & Walk hits the pavement. Hosted at the NWU Astro, the event aims to get the community moving—literally and figuratively—in support of a cause that deserves more attention.
Route Details and a Canine Clause
Participants will start and finish at the gate of the NWU Astro. No need to worry about getting lost mid-stride—route markers will keep everyone on track. And yes, dogs are welcome too, as long as they’re on a leash. It's a proper family affair, four-legged members included.
Start Time and Entry
The race kicks off at 09:00 sharp, but runners and walkers are encouraged to arrive by 08:30 to avoid the usual last-minute chaos (and maybe even sneak in a stretch or two). Entry is a wallet-friendly R10 per person, payable at the start point. But take note: if you're eyeing those prizes, you’ll need to have paid your entry fee—no ticket, no treat.
Dress to Impress (in Blue)
The unofficial theme is blue. So, whether it's a navy tutu or sky-coloured socks, dress up and stand out. There’s a prize up for grabs for the best-dressed participant who goes full-on blue. Style meets stride.
Prizes and Perks
Spur vouchers are up for grabs, so there’s extra motivation to push through that final kilometre. Nothing says victory like a post-run burger and chips.
Brought to You By
This event is brought together by NWU - Potchefstroom SCC/KSR and Kandelaar Studentegemeente. Local sponsor Body Fuel Express is also in the mix.
