The Strawberry Farm Invites Community Participation to Create the Best Scarecrow, with the Chance to Win a weekend Getaway
Potchefstroom, South Africa — Wilgeboom Strawberries, the seasonal strawberry farm that has captured the hearts of families and strawberry lovers, has introduced an exciting new twist to their offering this season. In a bid to involve the community further, they're inviting members of the public to participate in a unique scarecrow-making competition, with the winner set to receive a breakaway at a well-known resort.
The Scarecrow Challenge
Adding a dash of creativity to their operations, the farm is opening up a competition where anyone can submit their homemade scarecrow to adorn the strawberry fields. The objective is to add a bit of whimsy to the farm while also serving the functional role of keeping the birds away from the delicious berries.
How to Participate
If you'd like to flex your creative muscles and contribute to the farm's aesthetic, you can contact Marietjie Gerber at 083-500-6810 for registration. The farm can accept up to six entries for the competition.
Community Voting
Once all the scarecrows are set up, visitors to the farm will have the chance to vote for their favorite creation. Voting will be as simple as picking strawberries — each visitor will receive a token upon entry, which they can then drop in a box corresponding to their favorite scarecrow.
The Grand Prize
The creator of the scarecrow that receives the most votes will be awarded a wekend breakaway to a beautiful resort. It’s a fantastic way to thank the community for their participation and to add a little excitement to the strawberry picking season.
Regular Attractions Still Available
Of course, all the usual attractions at Wilgeboom Strawberries are still on offer. Visitors can pick their own strawberries, enjoy delectable waffles and ice cream with homemade strawberry syrup, and let the children roam free in the play area, among other activities.
Get Involved Soon!
With the farm looking to open by the end of September, now is the time to get involved. The strawberry season is limited, and so are the opportunities to participate in this fun and unique competition.
So, bring your artistic flair and love for community to Wilgeboom Strawberries this season. Who knows? Your scarecrow could win you a much-deserved weekend escape!
