As the calendar turns to 2024, my New Year's resolutions are lined up not just like ducks in a row, but like spirited flamingos, each one vibrant and ready to take a flamboyant leap of faith. This year, my journey is all about getting closer to Jesus, seeking God’s kingdom with a bit of sparkle and a lot of soul.

Swapping reality TV

First up on my list is turning my binge watching into some serious prayer time - it's all about swapping screen time for serene time. Imagine, instead of guessing what happens next in the latest drama series, I'll be unravelling the mysteries of the Bible. It’s like swapping reality TV for the ultimate reality – God’s word. So, as I embark on this journey, I'm ready for the plot twists, the life lessons, and the spiritual revelations. Let’s see if the Bible can give popular TV shows a run for their money? Bring on the popcorn and the Psalms!

Art of gratitude

My next resolution is to master the art of gratitude – or as I like to call it, living the “#Blessed” life, but not just on social media. Every day, I’ll jot down something I’m thankful for. It could be as simple as a good cup of coffee or as profound as the unfailing love of Jesus. This way, even on days when my coffee is mediocre, my heart will still be filled with joy.

Spiritual gym membership

Then there’s what I refer to as my “spiritual gym membership.” Just like hitting the gym to keep fit (a resolution that somehow doesn’t seem to last past February), I’ll be flexing my faith muscles. This includes daily scripture workouts and lifting others up in prayer – spiritual cardio, if you will. And the best part? No gym fees, and you’re guaranteed to feel uplifted every single time.

Gods Kingdom GPS

In 2024, I’m also activating my “God’s Kingdom GPS” – seeking His direction in every aspect of my life. Whether it's helping a neighbour or making a tough decision at work, I’ll be asking, “What would Jesus do?” It’s like having a divine navigation system, minus the annoying “recalculating” voice when you take a wrong turn.

Love Out Loud

Finally, my resolution is to LOL – Love Out Loud. This year, I want my actions to loudly echo God’s love. Whether it’s through volunteering, lending an ear to a friend, or simply spreading kindness, I’ll be there!

With joy and jest

It’s going to be a year of drawing closer to Jesus, achieving spiritual goals and seeking God’s kingdom with joy and jest. a year where drawing closer to Jesus isn’t just a to-do list item, but an exciting adventure Here’s to a year of living boldly, loving wildly, and laughing heartily as I walk hand-in-hand with Jesus.
