The FNB NWU Eagles ended their 2025 Varsity Cup campaign with a bang, absolutely crushing the FNB CUT Ixias at home in Potch. It was a performance for the books — one that left the crowd buzzing but also a little bittersweet.

Biggest Win of the Season

The full-time score? A whopping 117-19. That’s not a typo — the Eagles racked up the biggest total and winning margin of the entire season. From the first whistle, NWU looked hungry, organised, and in full control.

At half-time, the scoreboard already read 52-12 in favour of NWU, and it only got worse for the visitors from there. The defending 2023 champs showed no mercy as they ran in try after try in front of a roaring home crowd.

Dominant, But Not Enough

Despite the emphatic win, NWU's dream of back-to-back titles has come to an end — for now. The Eagles finished the Varsity Cup season in 5th place, narrowly missing out on a semi-final spot. The log points just didn’t stack up in their favour this time around.
