The FNB Varsity Cup Women’s Tournament is back, and the 2025 edition promises to be bigger and better. With six teams battling it out for top honours, this year’s tournament will kick off on Friday, 14 March, with defending champions FNB UFH facing FNB Maties in a repeat of last year’s thrilling final.

UFH’s Historic Win in 2024
Winning the 2024 title was a huge milestone for FNB UFH, marking their first-ever tournament victory. Coach Ntyatyambo Mkhafu believes the win had a major impact on the team and the university as a whole.The tournament has also helped grow women’s rugby in South Africa, giving players a platform to showcase their skills and attract national attention.
More Exposure for Women’s Rugby
One of the biggest changes for 2025 is that some matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport, giving the tournament and its players more national exposure. This move is set to inspire the next generation of female rugby players and bring even more fans into the game.
