Expanding Our Live Streaming and Content Offerings
Stroom Stories
Tuesday morning saw Heleen Humpel, founder and coach of the Panthers Netball Club, sitting down with Anjanette, where she shared a bit more background about the club, the challenges and what the future holds for this proud pink team. It was a special episode of Skool Kompas as Drikus sat down with his mother, Sunette Viljoen. Sunette, who was a remedial teacher for 46 years, talked about where the inspiration to go into remedial teaching came from, along with all her challenges, highlights and various impacts that teaching children with special needs had on her life.
Hendri Hofmeyr, who is no stranger to the spotlight, was our guest on Spiritual Talk. During this session, PD and Hendri talked about the inspiring, important role of a father in today’s society. Hendri, as a father of four, absolutely adores his family and takes his role as head of that family very seriously. He shared some shocking statistics relating to fatherless households, and the impact that these children experience whilst growing up without a father.
The week ended on a high note, as Anjanette talked with Murray Deacon, a member of Oppi-Stoep Dansorkes during the morning session of Stroom Stories. Here, he entertained our viewers with anecdotes from the band’s journey thus far. This band will also be performing at this year’s Potch Geesfees, taking place from 30 August until the 1st of September at Lekwena Private Wildlife Estate. Be sure not to miss them, along with other big names in the music industry performing on the 31st of August. Head on over to Tixsa to purchase your tickets for Potch Geesfees.
Drikus ended his week’s live streaming with Rugby Raas during Thursday’s afternoon session. His guests were none other than Matthew Proudfoot and Chris Erasmus, and man oh man, what a great stream that was! If you missed it, be sure to head on over to our Facebook page or website’s Stroom Stories segment to take a look at the conversation. Matthew Proudfoot is a South African rugby union coach and former player who represented Scotland. He is currently the head coach at the Leopards Rugby Team. Chris, on the other hand, is currently the backline coach for the Leopards.
Potch Socialite
The first official video from our Potch Socialite has been uploaded to our social media pages, and we think that Drikus did an excellent job, given it’s his first time behind the camera, as we’ve seen him in front of the camera for the majority of this year. Head on over to our Facebook Page to take a look at his first event coverage - M.L. Fick Primary School’s Open Day or take a look at the video here:
Ikageng Gazette
The Ikageng Gazette also officially kicked off with Florah Votyeka talking with Ikageng residents amidst the protests and riots that took place on Monday, 19 August. With her comfortable and inviting personality, she’s able to connect and talk confidently with members of the township.
In this video, Florah brings us valuable insight from Ikageng, showing how the local community came together to protect one of the tuckshops during Monday's protests. The protests, initially sparked by municipal rate hikes and poor service delivery, escalated, leading to looting of local tuckshops. But in this video, you'll also see a heartwarming display of unity as residents stand up to protect their community.
Walk With Us
Pieter was very busy with content creation this week. He visited Lenmed Mooimed Private Hospital, Car Service City, Jonsson’s Workwear, and Platō Coffee, just to name a few. Explore these businesses with us by heading over to the Walk With Us section on our website.
Community Campaigns and Partnerships
Geesfees Campaign
As we inch forward to the much anticipated Potch Geesfees, the excitement is starting to build in and around town. In addition to the countdown, the Top 9 local artists have also been announced, and we are excited to see them take to the stage on Friday, 30 August where one will be crowned as the winner of Potch Geesfees 2024. We are also busy promoting all of the vendors and sponsors for that weekend, and we are creating awareness regarding all of the activities for the whole family. Be sure to get your tickets on Tixsa or at the gate.
The Go-To Guy as Musician
We also wrote a song using AI mixing with our Lyrics for the Geesfees, which is the background to our summary of all the things around Potch Geesfees, you can view the video as well as the song we did in the video below

Event Planning and Local Partnerships
Bult Oktoberfest and Rum and Gin Fest
We are counting down the days until the 12th of October! This is a big day for Potchefstroom, as our town will see two big events taking place. Bult Oktoberfest and the Rum and Gin Fest are two very different events, catering to two different demographics. Regardless of your preferred choice of drink, you’ll be sure to have your thirst quenched at either one of these festivals.
Client Campaigns
As Spring approaches, the anticipation of Flo-Tek’s Spring Day, taking place on the 6th of September, grows with each passing day. This promises to be a day filled with prizes, vendors, a variety of stalls, along with a Potjiekos Competition taking place on the day. The foods from the competition will also be sold to the public, so be sure to grab your lunch or dinner at 1 Delta Street, Potch Industria.
