Experience Needed
Junior journalism studies are a plus, but in our startup environment, the right attitude and aptitude take precedence.
Demonstrable involvement in the Potchefstroom community and a knack for crafting compelling articles.
Requirements
Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans.
Comfortable with computers, online platforms, social media, and showcasing digital savvy.
Superior writing and communication capabilities with an eye for detail.
A heartfelt connection to the Potchefstroom community and its people.
Ability to work autonomously and produce timely and captivating stories.
Own transportation and a valid license, enabling travel within the community for comprehensive event coverage.
Zeal to dive into a startup culture and contribute meaningfully.
Key Duties
News Gathering:
Source, investigate, and cover local news, events, and happenings in Potchefstroom.
Craft clear, concise, and captivating articles that echo with our readers.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the team to guarantee uniform and premium news quality.
Field Work:
Be present at local events, meetings, and community gatherings to ensure exhaustive news coverage.
Capture vibrant photos to accompany the stories you cover.
Feedback & Strategy:
Offer insights to augment the newspaper's impact and standing within the community.
Community Engagement:
Engage with local residents to cultivate a robust network of informants and contacts.
Keep abreast of Potchefstroom's trending topics, ensuring news is always relevant and timely.
