A Historic Venue with a Modern Twist
The Snowflake Venue’s origins can be traced back to William Hinchcliff Horsfall’s steam mill, the first industrial operation in Potchefstroom. Over the years, it changed ownership several times before Albert Bothma took charge in 1997, repurposing the building into an event space that blends historical charm with modern amenities.
Today, the venue comprises two main buildings: the Brewery Hall and the Old Mill, each offering multiple halls and spaces suitable for both formal and informal gatherings.
Venue Options and Capacities
Brewery Hall
The largest and most versatile space in the venue, the Brewery Hall can accommodate up to 500 seated guests. It includes a built-in stage, a bar, and a seating gallery, making it ideal for music concerts, award ceremonies, and large wedding receptions. Its Steampunk aesthetic and sustainable design elements make it one of the most unique event spaces in Potchefstroom.
The Alley
Connecting the Brewery Hall to the Old Mill, the Alley serves as a stylish extension to events, often used as a reception area for welcoming drinks and canapés. While it cannot be hired independently, it provides an excellent pre-function space for guests to mingle.
Jazz Hall
Situated on the ground floor of the Old Mill, the Jazz Hall offers an elegant space for weddings, accommodating up to 200 guests for a ceremony and between 50 to 120 guests for a seated reception with a dance floor.
Tank Hall
A smaller space on the ground floor, the Tank Hall is perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies, workshops, or team-building sessions.
Big Easy
Located on the first floor of the Old Mill, the Big Easy doubles as an art gallery and an event space for up to 60 guests. This area is well-suited for smaller gatherings such as birthday parties, baby showers, and kitchen teas.
Chandelier Hall
Also on the first floor, the Chandelier Hall is an elegant setting for workshops or wedding ceremonies, accommodating up to 230 seated guests.
