As the winter chill begins to settle in, a heartfelt call has gone out to the community: open your cupboards, clean out those closets, and help someone stay warm this season. A dedicated local initiative, spearheaded by residents Zané and Michelle, is collecting gently-used clothing, shoes, and blankets for redistribution to less fortunate families in and around Potchefstroom.

Why This Drive Matters
With winter approaching fast, hundreds in our town are bracing for the cold without the basic essentials. For many, a warm pair of socks, a cozy jersey, or an extra blanket is a luxury they simply can’t afford. That’s where this clothing drive steps in — turning unused household items into literal lifesavers.
“Ons skenk alle items terug aan minder bevoorregdes in die gemeenskap,” says Zané. “As jy iets het wat net stof opgaar, weet asseblief dat dit iemand anders se winter kan red.”
What You Can Donate
The team is appealing for:
Warm clothing (for adults, children, and babies)
Shoes in wearable condition
Blankets or bedding of any kind
Each donated item will be sorted and personally distributed to individuals and families in need — no red tape, no middlemen, just neighbours helping neighbours.

How You Can Help
Take a few minutes to go through your home. If you find something warm you no longer need, don’t let it go to waste. Someone else could be relying on it to get through the winter.
