The Lyrimus Theatre Approach
In the world of music education, it is essential to recognise the individuality of each student and foster their personal potential. At MLM Studio, this principle lies at the core of their teaching philosophy. Every student is seen as unique, and their musical journey is tailored accordingly.
The Founder History
The founder, Braam Coetzer, a musician, teacher, producer, and theather owner, has dedicated his life to the world of music. His passion for the craft and love for his students have led to the establishment of the successful Memory Lane Music Studio and LyriMus Theatre.
From an early age of six, Braam's journey with music began. Hailing from Pretoria, South Africa, he developed a passion for playing various instruments, but it was the guitar that captured his heart. Over the years, Braam has performed throughout almost every province in South Africa, sharing the stage with renowned local artists and building a reputation as a skilled and proficient musician.

Braam's Unique Teaching Methodology
One of the distinguishing aspects of Memory Lane Music Studio's teaching method is the use of the chromatic scale as the foundation for music theory. Developed by Braam Coetzer over a period of 15 years, this methodology is his exclusive intellectual property and is continually adapted to accommodate various thinking patterns.
Benefits of Teaching Music with the Chromatic Scale:
Basis of Music Theory: Understanding the chromatic scale leads to a deeper grasp of harmony, melody, and rhythm—enhancing students' musical knowledge and skills.
Increased Creativity: Familiarity with the chromatic scale enables students to explore new melodies and harmonies, fostering their creativity.
Improved Ear Training: Studying the chromatic scale enhances a student's ability to listen accurately to music and improve their own musical creations.
Ease of Learning: Teaching music with the chromatic scale as the foundation does not require reading music notation, allowing students to focus more on understanding music theory.
Greater Musical Variety: Learning music with the chromatic scale as the basis opens doors to various music genres, from classical to jazz and rock.
In Conclusion
MLM Studio, under the guidance of Braam Coetzer, offers a nurturing and personalised approach to music education. With the use of the unique chromatic scale-based methodology, students can explore their musical potential, making MLM Studio a valuable asset in preparing aspiring musicians for the music industry. Additionally, Braam's contributions to the world of music extend beyond teaching as he continues to inspire through his performances, productions, and the creation of an innovative theater experience at LyriMus Theater.
