Potchefstroom, sit tight! We’ve got our own Amapiano star making big moves. His name? Tshepiso Mogorosi, but you probably know him as Ta Lokii. This guy has gone from DJing on a tablet to becoming a national finalist, and the best part? He’s just getting started!

From Ditaelong to the Big Stage
Ta Lokii’s journey started at Ditaelong Primary School, where he studied from 2010 to 2016. He then continued at Boitshoko High School, completing his matric in 2021. But let’s be real – his real education was in beats and rhythms.
His music career began in 2016 when he was inspired by none other than Black Coffee. Without DJ equipment, he made a plan and started using an app called Cross DJ on his tablet. From there, he started playing at small family gatherings and braais, quickly realizing: "This is what I’m meant to do!"
Back in the Game
Life happens, and in 2018, Ta Lokii took a break from the music industry. But he wasn’t done. In 2021, after completing his matric, he made a comeback. That’s when Djy King Amo SA entered the picture. Djy King Amo SA introduced him to the world of music production, and in 2022, they released their first track, Sgija Sa Potch.
Then in 2023, they dropped their first EP, New Born Of Sgija, and in 2024, Show Them Flames EP followed. But wait, there’s more – 2025 will bring the big one: his first full-length album, Another Murder From Us.
Nominations and Big Moves
It’s not just his fans who have noticed Ta Lokii’s talent. The Mzansi Arts and Media Awards took note and nominated him for Best Amapiano Single. And this wasn’t just a casual nomination – he made it to the finalists!
But it doesn’t stop there. He’s now also nominated for Best Musical Artist at the Mzansi Arts and Media Awards Provincial. This guy’s talent is getting the recognition it deserves, and this is only the beginning.
What’s Next?
With a debut album on the way and a growing fanbase, it’s clear that Ta Lokii’s name is only going to get bigger. But here’s the thing – he needs some help getting to the awards ceremony. The event is taking place on April 26 at Bedrock Valley in Hammanskraal, Pretoria, and he’s looking for support to make it there.
Potchefstroom’s Pride
It’s not every day that a young talent from Potch makes such a big impact in the music industry. From a guy who started DJing with a tablet and a dream to an Amapiano finalist – this is just the beginning of an incredible journey. Buckle up, because Ta Lokii is here to shake things up!
Keep supporting local talent and remember – Potchefstroom has stars that shine, and we need to celebrate them!
